I knew I should have waited until the end of the year to make my list of sublimely ridiculous uses of diamonds because here comes another squeaking in before the end of 2008. Eton has created a diamond decorated shirt that is being auctioned off on eBay.The shirt is made from Egyptian cotton and has seven diamonds on the studs and cufflinks The shirt will be made to measure. .Bidding opened at £5,000 and all proceeds go to Great Ormond Street Hospital. Last time I looked there was one bid and the auction ends on December 18.

The new gold phone will have 3G connectivity and come in a wooden presentation box. The phone reportedly takes 1,000 hours of shaping, 700 polishing hours, and 500 hours of building time to create. Glittering Ornaments Bring Little Luxuries

We’ve already highlighted Swarovski’s Annual Edition Ornament for 2008 but the luxury-minded shopper may have more sparkling needs in the ornament department. This iconic crystal company is offering sixteen other options for glamorous gifts or tree bling at your own home. Snowflakes are the most common design but angels, trees, stars and stockings with a touch of tasteful color will also ring in the holiday season beautifully. Even babies aren’t forgotten with the pacifier- or duckie-shaped ornaments to commemorate a first holiday. Faberge’s ornaments, available at Neiman Marcus, showcase a familiar egg-shape of mouth-blown glass with delicately handpainted designs. Jay Strongwater’s Musical Ornaments at Saks add a sense of frivolity to your tree with a touch of Swarovski bling too. And Bergdorf Goodman is selling L’Objet’s Pagoda Ornament which is14K gold-plated and adorned in freshwater pearls and, again, Swarovski Crystals.

A bejeweled tree is bound to make quite a statement during your holiday gathering and an even bigger impression as a gift.

The World’s Most Elegantly Dressed

Nigerian-born artist, aesthete and aRude magazine publisher Iké Udé (above) is one of the last of the old-school dandies – old school as in Oscar Wilde and Baudelaire. His new book, Style File: The World’s Most Elegantly Dressed, is a compendium of extraordinarily-attired people, but it shouldn’t be confused with just another Best Dressed list. To make Udé’s grade you have to have a measure of eccentricity, verve and idiosyncrasy in your ensembles that can’t merely be purchased at the nearest shop, no matter how chic. Some of the people in the book are well known, others not so much, but they all have incredible in style in common. See the gallery for pix of some standouts; we’ve focused on the men since they get less exposure than their female counterparts in this regard – plus one major babe.
